Today, at the Monti Ernici Olive Oil and Olive Museum, the first introductory day to olive growing was held: "We've always done it this way... a myth to dispel!"
The seminar, organized in close collaboration and synergy with Coldiretti Frosinone, saw the great participation of professional farmers, hobbyists, and the curious.
Our Antonio Genovesi opened the event, illustrating in a brief excursus the history of the olive tree and what it meant for ancient Mediterranean societies and for the religions born around the Mediterranean basin.
Next, the Coldiretti Frosinone technicians, agronomist Dr. Simone D'Ambrosio and CAA manager Alessandro Trasolini, illustrated the nutritional needs of the olive tree, the possibilities for recovery and in situ maintenance of organic matter, the different types of fertilization, and the possibilities for recovering prunings, also in light of the entry into force of the new CAP with related contributions and requirements for farmers.
At the close of the seminar, Antonio Genovesi presented to the large audience the needs of the olive tree canopy, the different types of pruning, and the technical and economic needs of olive growers in managing an olive grove.In particular, he focused on the need to use pruning techniques that respect the physiological needs of the olive tree in order to protect its health for easier management and for the maintenance of rural landscapes.
At the end of the event, in the sensory garden of our headquarters, Coldiretti Frosinone offered participants a buffet with typical Ciociarian products from the associated farms.
Our thanks go to Coldiretti Frosinone, in the person of Director Dr. Picchi, the technicians agronomist Dr. D'Ambrosio and CAA manager Trasolini, for the human and technical contribution they gave to this day, and to Angelo Mastronardi for logistics;
and of course, and rightly so, to the many participants who came from various neighboring towns.
